After the Comma

It has been an incredibly long time since I have posted anything. Since I am sitting here in the hotel and have nothing else to do I decided it was time for me to do a post. A lot has been going through my mind in the last few months. I was thinking about ho often we as Christians use scripture out of context or how we only use partial verses to fit us. It is a very selfish thing to do. I am not condemning anyone because I have been guilty of this.

One of my favorite verses of all time is Ephesians 4:29 it says “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”  A lot of time we stop at the comma in this verse when we need to read the whole verse and take it all to heart. Look I am very guilty of joking around and being silly and at times I do take things a little to far. This verse reminds me of this if I read past the comma. I need to not only watch for “bad” words that may come out of my mouth but I also need to watch out for the way I may joke around with people. I might innocently be joking but that person might be filling cut down by it. If I have done this to you I am deeply sorry. It is something that I am striving to do better at. I remember being at Elkhorn Valley Christian Service camp in high school we had to sign a full value contract and this verse was part of it. If you broke that part of the contract you had to say two nice things about the person you torn down and you had to give them a hug. You would thing that I would have been able to remember the whole verse after so many summers there.

As Christians we wear the name of Christ. We are part of a team. We do not want to bring disgrace to our team or our family or most importantly our Father. We see it almost everyday another athlete arrested for a DUI, for beating his wife or girlfriend or for some drug charge it is insane. They bring disgrace to their teams their family their league and they do not seem to care. We are part of a bigger team and a bigger plan. This brings me to another verse I wanted to share. Ephesians 5:15-17 “ Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.” We have a job to do as Christian to bring others to Him. We need to be aware and prepared when these times come. Just like the athletes are ready come game day to perform and play to their best ability we must also be ready. We need to train and make ourselves and each other stronger so we will be ready when it is game time for us.

Ok. I did not intend for this to be this long I got off on a little rabbit trail sorry about that. I hope that I did not bore the people that read this and I also hope that just maybe you got a little something from it. It was weighing on my heart and I thought I would share.

Beautiful Soul

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Just to make sure there's no confusion about which team they are pulling for in Super Bowl XL, the mayor and council voted unanimously to change this city's name.

Welcome to Steeler, Pa.

The name change for the city of about 15,000 people south of Pittsburgh will last through Feb. 5, the day of the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks.

"I know the folks in the state of Washington are rooting for the Seahawks, so we wanted to make sure everyone knows the city of Washington is fully in support of the Steelers," Mayor Kenneth J. Westcott told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

You will want to keep addressing those bills, cards and letters to Washington, Pa., though, because the name change is cosmetic and not recognized by the U.S. Postal Service.

"It's just a spoof until after the Super Bowl," Westcott told the newspaper.

Found this on espn.com today.. Also I found this on a sign outside of church in washington last night... Go Steelers- God.... Freaking crazy stuff... Don't get me wrong I love the Steelers and I always will but but come on folks get a grip.

As far as what I am listening to. I really am not but... I thought it was funny inlight of his big fan that was at youth group on wed night. I swear if I ask who God's son is she would have answered Jesse McCartney..

I  never can think of anything interesting to post. I never have really got too in depth on here. Maybe one day I will start posting something with more substance. The first few weeks of this year have been very difficult at work. Lots of things that need tog et done. I have for sure been earning my paycheck for all that I have had to put up with so far. I am hoping in the next few weeks things will slow down.

So it is a start of a new year. As I sit back and think about the year 2005 it was year of big events. The last three months of 2005 were by far the best 3 months of the year. In those 3 months my life went through a huge change. Change that I am greatful for. I have been blessed with an Awesome wife. I am  thankful for all of the new friendship that I have been able to make this year as well. To be honest I was very scared about moving and I am thankful for everyone that as made the move so easy. Well tht is all I have for now. Happy New Year to everyone.

I hate to see my wife sick!  It is painful for me to see. I just want to help make her better or better yet just wish I could be the one that is sick, so she could enjoy the holidays.
